Empathy and Definition
Understanding the essence to chart the course
This project began with a direct assignment: to design the graphic packaging for the new album La Original y Sus Boleros de Amor by La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, adapted for physical CD, the main distribution channel at the time. The key need was to convey the romantic content of the album through a popular and eye-catching design, with an intentionally kitsch and saturated visual style, aimed at the genre’s loyal audience.
The challenge was not only to translate that essence into visual language, but also to operate under Universal Music Group’s strict printing template, complying with exact technical parameters and specific legal guidelines for two versions of the product: one for the U.S. and one for Latin America. In addition, the short turnaround time and the management of multiple images of the band members added to the complexity of the production. From the photo editing to the layout of each visual element, everything had to be millimetrically resolved to meet print standards and release dates.

Ideation and Prototyping
Shaping ideas and creating tangible solutions
Faced with a tight schedule, the creative process was based on a logic of continuity: to take advantage of the visual identity of the previous album and evolve it towards a new romantic, modern and passionate concept. Three initial cover proposals were generated, exploring different typographies and compositions. The selected version was built directly on the label’s official template, prioritizing functionality without losing visual expressiveness.
The final design integrated textures, warm colorimetry and visual elements that evoked the spirit of boleros, while staying true to the popular tone of the genre. All the required pieces were designed: outside front cover, back cover, inside of the triptych, album art and the album cover. The delivery included high resolution TIFF files, source files and embedded versions, taking care of every technical detail to ensure its correct printing.
Thanks to a precise execution aligned with the client’s requirements, the project flowed smoothly. No subsequent adjustments were required, confirming that the design met not only aesthetic, but also technical and production standards.
